ONGOING PROPERTY ENHANCEMENTS
A Message from Tranquility Bay’s General Manager, Lauren Clevenger
We love living and working in south Florida – the weather and tropical water views are spectacular! While the tropical weather is amazing; sometimes we have to put up with tropical bugs. Periodically in south Florida, as well as other areas of the country, we must have our buildings tented in order to completely eliminate the bugs that may live in the walls. We opened Tranquility Bay in 2005 and for the first time since opening, we selected September 2024 as the time we will tent our buildings – one building at a time. Although very much a routine process in south Florida, some of you may not be familiar with this process.
The tenting company prepares each building using a detailed preparation checklist and then installs a tent which completely encapsulates the building using the ground as the base of the tent. The tent is then filled with Vikane gas that eliminates the bugs. According to the tenting service, Vikane is a colorless, odorless gas. It is also non-staining, non-corrosive and non-flammable. We understand the gas dissipates into the atmosphere and does not deplete the ozone. Twenty-Four hours after the tent is installed, it is removed from the building and the crew moves to the next building. In the days following the removal of the tent, our team cleans and prepares the units for occupancy.
Knowing we will be tenting our buildings during your stay with us, please feel free to contact us with any questions. Our team looks forward to assisting in helping explain the process so your family will feel comfortable when you see a tent on one of the resort buildings.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
While termite tenting is a very normal preventative maintenance project, every effort has been made to limit the impact to our guests. The most common, and at times comical impact tenting may cause would be the image of the large, multicolored tarp that often reminds onlookers of a circus tent! There will of course, be some areas of the resort that will be off limits for 2-3 days to allow our termite team the space needed to work safely. Our tenting schedule has been made with guest movement around our resort and visual interruption at the forefront of our minds. We hope our efforts will result in minimal impact to our guests’ experience throughout this project.
Our main lagoon pool will be closed for 4-5 days while we make necessary enhancements. In the meantime, the adult pool and garden pool will be open to all guests, so don’t worry – there’s plenty of space to splash around and soap up the sun!
Our lobby will be temporarily closed for about 2 days. In the interim, all guests will be directed to Villa 52 which will act as our satellite lobby for this time period. Directional signs will be stationed throughout the resort to lead guests to the correct villa.
Butterfly Café is getting new flooring! While this project is being worked on, guests will be able to dine at TJ’s Tiki Bar for dinner, offering elevated Butterfly Café entreés. We also have brand new breakfast boxes available for purchase! Inquire about ordering these at the front desk.
TJ’s will be closed for 2 days, but this schedule is subject to change. Guests who would like to dine with ocean views are welcome to enjoy the restaurants at our sister property, Isla Bella, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. More information on this can be found here. We will also be offering guests drinks service from a satellite bar, in addition to a BBQ grill station for quick bites.
